DANCE ELITE* History / Overview

Chautauqua Mall 'Christmas Spectacular 2009' Show
Back in 2005, Erie native Brett Fallon, had a vision …… he envisioned sharing his passion for dance with individuals whose life situations, for whatever reason, did not allow them to experience this magnificent form of art. Brett recognized that there were specific demographics unable to enjoy such quality musical entertainment. In addition, he was surrounded by fellow entertainers who, like himself, were searching for outlets to hone their performance skills. It was a combination of these factors which inspired Brett to take action …. thus, DANCE ELITE* was formed!
Brett, who serves as the artistic director of DANCE ELITE*, possesses an extensive background in the art of dance, having studied at PA Governor’s School, Point Park University in Pittsburgh, and under scholarship with Luigi of New York City. Brett earned his degree in dance with a concentration in jazz from Point Park with training in jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, modern, and folk/character.
Brett’s DANCE ELITE* Performance Company has actively pursued its mission of providing quality song and dance performances to targeted, diverse audiences, traveling to various venues in the tri-state area with self-contained shows … complete with professional lighting, music, special effects, and hand-designed costumes. In fulfilling its purpose for entertainers, the company remains flexible, offering seasoned performers artistic freedom to share their talent while promoting themselves for their own benefit. While performing at these venues, Brett recognized a need to further incorporate dance into the lives of the individuals he had previously entertained. In response to this noted demand, two additional branches of the company were developed: The Therapeutic Dance Project and The Dance Outreach Project. These projects now serve as the “heart” of DANCE ELITE*, and continue to grow and expand.
DANCE ELITE* has become a major advocate for mental health awareness in our society, as Brett firmly believes dance therapy can help get patients on the path to a better state of mind. Through DANCE ELITE*’s Therapeutic Dance Project, Brett has formed dance programs at Erie Mental Health Association, Warren State Mental Hospital, St. Mary’s East adult daycare, and provides numerous interactive performances and dance classes at senior centers throughout Erie and surrounding counties.
Being both a school teacher and dance instructor, Brett realizes the benefits of teaching the art of dance to others, including the younger generation. He has taught at Warren County Summer Music School, formed dance classes at the YMCA, and directed children’s summer dance camps in both Erie and Warren counties. Through DANCE ELITE*’s Dance Outreach Project, Brett now integrates musical dance programs and workshops into the curriculum of childcare learning centers and schools. He also helps develop and promote local performers through their participation in various outreach programs. Warren’s First National Tap Dance Day was formed as a result of the Dance Outreach Project, as was the development of the current Dance/Theatre Department at Erie’s Boys’ and Girls’ Club. The company's goal is to provide youth with exposure to dance, giving them a creative outlet by way of the arts.
2010 promises to be an exciting year for DANCE ELITE* as the company presents brand new shows, and ultimately will travel to New York City on April 16-18 to participate in Project Dance®. Project Dance is a movement of dancers seeking to positively impact culture through artistic integrity. The goal is to see every dancer nurtured to their fullest human potential for their own well-being and their contribution to the world. Participants will receive training, education, and performance opportunities, including an amazing open concert in Times Square. In alignment with DANCE ELITE*’s mission, Brett is pleased to be taking his company to this one-of-a-kind event, as he has previously represented Erie as a soloist / choreographer for Project Dance.
